100 Avocado Toast is a life experiment project exploring the increasingly blurred line between authentic experiences and artificial representations due to the rapid development of AI image generators and the influence of social media lifestyles.
The juxtaposition of natural life (a growing avocado seed), human life (a lifestyle of continuously consuming avocado toast), human-simulated life (wood avocado toast pieces) and AI-simulated life (an AI-generated simulation of the same number of avocado toast images filling the same time frame) allows people to observe and compare the similarities and differences among these life forms. This half-year project calls for a conscious reflection on our understanding of “life” and the rapidly changing lifestyle shaped by technology.
